4 Simple Yet Scrumptious CBD Recipes for Cooking

Enthusiasts can choose from multiple distinct intake methods for cannabidiol (CBD). Some people apply topical solutions on their skin. Others prefer vaping CBD juice. One of the more popular ones is ingestion. However, not everyone enjoys the strong taste of tincture on or under their tongues.

A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. While CBD’s medicinal properties continue to be researched, the same idea can apply here. For a more fun way of getting the compound into your system, you can learn CBD recipes for cooking meals, baking sweets, and preparing platters. Here are a few of our favorites.

Pasta with CBD Sauce

Pasta is a relatively easy meal to prepare, and a filling one once it is ready to eat. Making your own sauce is a little more challenging, but the flavors it adds to the meal make the effort worthwhile. It is also more ideal for adding CBD oil than the pasta water — the flavor is subtler.

Ingredients

  • As much Pasta of any type as you want
  • 28 oz Tomatoes, whole peeled (you may also peel the tomatoes yourself)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 1 mL CBD oil (can add a little more if you regularly use CBD)
  • Cooking oil
  • 1 cup Onions, chopped
  • 2 Garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 3 Basil leaves
  • 1/4 cups Olive oil
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • Parmesan cheese (as much as you want)

Instructions

  1. Place the tomatoes, tomato paste, and water in a food processor and purée them until the texture is to your liking. Move the mixture into a pot, then place it on the stovetop and turn it on.
  2. Boil water in another pot. When it starts steaming, add a little cooking oil and mix it in. Place the pasta inside, pour a few tablespoons’ worth of salt, and start stirring.
  3. Add the onions, garlic cloves, 1/2 tsp salt, pepper, oregano, basil leaves, and olive oil into the sauce pot. Use a ladle to mash them inside and stir the mixture until everything feels blended.
  4. Let the sauce reach a boil, then move the pot away and stir every few minutes. We recommend moving the pot because CBD oil tends to start breaking down at temperatures above 325 degrees Fahrenheit. You would not want to lose any of the compound while cooking.
  5. The sauce should be ready after 20 minutes, and the pasta will likely be ready sooner. Pour the pasta pot’s contents into a colander. Scoop as much pasta as you want onto a bowl, then pour as much sauce as you like.

Tincture Vanilla Milkshake

CBD can go just as well with a dessert as with dinner. The sweetness of a milkshake can overpower the taste of a tincture, literalizing our “spoonful of sugar” remark from the article’s introduction. Moreover, the milkshake’s fats complement the cannabinoid and make it easier to digest.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cups Milk
  • 1-2 tbsp Honey
  • A few drops of CBD tincture (remember, tinctures contain highly concentrated amounts of CBD)
  • A dash of sea salt
  • Any assorted toppings you want (ex. cherries, sprinkles, whipped cream)

Instructions

  1. Put the ice cream, milk, honey, and CBD oil into a blender. Turn it on and keep it on until you get the texture and consistency you want. Inserting more vanilla can make it chunkier, and pouring more water can make it runnier.
  2. Pour the blended mixture into a glass. Sprinkle the sea salt on top and add your toppings.
  3. NOTE: You can add the CBD oil in Step 2 instead of in Step 1. Just keep in mind that the flavor may be much stronger.

Homemade Guacamole

CBD recipes for cooking do not have to comprise an entire dish or dessert. Enjoying the cannabinoid’s benefits can be as simple as making it an ingredient in a snack dip. We provide a good example of that below with a recipe for homemade guacamole — perfect for game days or relaxing evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 Avocados
  • 1 mL CBD oil (can add a little more if you regularly use CBD)
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Lemon or lime juice
  • Any minced vegetables and spices you want to mix in (ex. chili, tomato, pepper)

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados with a big knife. Be slow and cautious to avoid injury when you reach the pit in the center. Remove pit, scoop avocado flesh with a spoon, and mash it in a bowl.
  2. Add all the other ingredients, including the CBD oil, to the bow. Mix everything together until the guacamole looks nice and chunky.
  3. Dip your chips, or any other snack that goes well with that cool taste and texture.

Cannabutter

Butter is a common ingredient for all kinds of sweets and treats, from cookies and cakes to pancakes and toast. CBD-infused butter, also known as cannabutter, can give you a fill of your favorite cannabinoid in a delicious edible delight.

Before we proceed, we should mention that CBD does not share THC’s psychoactive properties. When you bake with this compound, you will not get you baked.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Butter
  • 20 mL CBD oil (this recipe will create a lot of cannabutter, and you will only need to use a little at a time in future baking efforts)
  • 1 cup Water

Instructions

  1. Set a pot to low heat. This temperature level is necessary to prevent it from exceeding 325 degrees Fahrenheit. You will need more time to make the cannabutter, but it will retain more of the compound in the end.
  2. Cut the butter into an array of chunks. Place it in the pot with the CBD oil and the water. Leave everything to cook for two hours.
  3. When two hours pass, pour the liquid mixture into a container and place it in the fridge. When you want it, you can bring it out and cut pieces from it.
